Imports/Exports

In Europe there is an extensive network of electricity interconnections between countries, both on land and undersea. On this website imports and exports are calculated from the Cross-Border Flow data from entsoe. An example plot is shown of cross-border flow in NW Europe for 2018.

The large countries import and export the largest quantities of electricity while smaller countries exchange lower quantities but the amounts are more significant for the country power balance. Imports and exports have a major importance for balancing demand variations in some countries.
